Graduated from University of Hong Kong in 1974. Pediatric training in
United States, Pediatric Infectious Disease training in Buffalo NY,
on faculty teaching for several years. Moved to Prince Edward Island in
1986, practice as pediatric consultant since. Most involved in children
with respiratory problems, infectious diseases, learning problems,
ADD, Tourette syndrome.
Dr. David Wong is a consultant paediatrician in
Summerside
and a member of the Board of Directors of the
Canadian Paediatric Society.
PCHF: Foundation reports to its annual meeting

At the recent annual meeting of the Prince County Hospital Foundation,
Board president Walter Riehl, left, presented a cheque for $335,000 to
Dr. David Wong of PCH staff.
The money was raised through the Foundation's annual fall campaign, and
will now be used to buy the following equipment for the hospital: 23 Vital
Signs monitors, three new ventilators, and one handheld Ultrasound. The
money will also cover the cost of new mattresses for the beds at PCH,
and all this equipment will be transferred to the new facility when it
opens this fall.

Island Focus: Changing PEI's Age of School Entry

gradually phased in to improve learning outcomes in Prince Edward Island.
This means that by 2008, Island children will be required to be six
years old when they start school.

September 24/01. A warm welcome to new board members, Kaye Kelly and
Kelly Rayner.

secondwind: Should We Be Raising a Stink About Hog Farms -
U.S. studies link respiratory problems to intensive hog operations

[Dr. Melva Fager Okun's] concerns are shared by Dr. David Wong,
a pediatrician in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. "People living
close to hog farms can have problems with their respiratory system," he
says. "Hog farms are notorious for the odor. Hogs eat a lot, and pass a
lot of excreta, with high ammonia content. It can be highly irritating
to the airways of people, especially those who have sensitive airways."
People whose asthma is not under good control, he says, "will have
more problems than others."
